Description
The Registrar/Curator of Collections Management evaluates, enriches and preserves the museum’s history collections. This position is responsible for developing and implementing collection policies and procedures through stewardship of the physical collection and management of the legal paperwork and individual object records. This position has registrar responsibilities and supports the museum’s mission through the acquisition of objects, collection development and the library mission to provide access to information and collections to our community. Manages collections through registration, documentation, care and storage. Identify and acquire artifacts that further the mission of the Greensboro History Museum, especially those that fill significant gaps or represent people or events from the late 20th and early 21st centuries. This position works closely with other curators, archivists, educators, preparators, conservators, photographers, volunteers, museum donors and patrons on a variety of projects and collections. Must have demonstrated experience in collections management principles, procedures, policies and best practices for object care, record keeping, technology and conservation within a historical museum or cultural setting using a collection management system and database; such as Rediscovery’s Proficio or similar. Demonstrated strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Must have the ability to multitask and meet deadline-driven projects.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree with 5 or more years of progressively responsible collections management and registration experience at a museum or cultural institution.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office software programs and imaging programs
2+ years of experience in exhibit logistics and standards
An Ideal Candidate Would Also Possess (Preferred Qualifications):
Master’s Degree in Museum Studies, History, Anthropology, or a related field
2+ years’ experience as registrar/collections manager at an AAM accredited Museum OR meets the standards of AAM accreditation
2+ years’ experience with shipping, packing methods, exhibition budgets, legal documents, and fine arts insurance
2+ years’ experience using cameras and basic construction tools for storage box fabrication
