Company Profile

Company Overview

The John Michael Kohler Arts Center (JMKAC) is a nationally acclaimed, contemporary visual and
performing arts complex located in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. JMKAC functions as a catalyst for, and explorer of, new art forms and ideas that will impact the lives of both artists and the public. With exhibits and collections focusing on the work of self-taught artists, the Arts Center has the largest collection of whole and partial artist environments in the world. JMKAC serves as a laboratory for the creation of art through innovative programs including Arts/Industry, a long-term artists’ residency; an arts-based preschool, one of only three such programs located in arts centers in the country; and the ARTery, a
collaborative art studio open to the community.

The Arts Center prides itself on being a vital member of the regional community through a cross-disciplinary approach to exhibits; the overlapping of installation and performance art spaces allows artists to approach their work in new ways while the audience considers themes from a broader viewpoint. By encouraging dialogue between artists and audience members of all ages, JMKAC works to nourish diversity and build community through the arts.

Benefits
