Western Science Center
Company Overview
Located at Diamond Valley Lake in Hemet, California, the Western Science Center (WSC) is operated by the Western Center Community Foundation (WCCF), a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization formed in 1985. The WSC is dedicated to the scientific study and interpretation of environmental and cultural change from the late Pleistocene to the present. The WSC occupies a 32,000-sq. ft. complex of new, LEED Platinum-certified buildings. Opened in 2006, the WSC campus includes a museum, laboratories, theater, classrooms, outdoor simulated archaeological and paleontological dig site, and state-of-the-art facility for curation of fossil and artifact collections. In addition, the WSC, in partnership with the Hemet Unified School District, has now opened the Western Center Academy, a science/math/technology-focused charter school for grades 6-8. A science-based charter high school may also be sited on the WSC campus within the next few years.
